Description
Put your server to work
Irish enterprises rely on dependable computing across offices and remote locations. Windows Server Standard is Microsoft's server operating system for small and medium businesses running their own systems on site or in a private cloud. TresBizz offers four generations to match different requirements. The licence is new, perpetual and paid for once, with no subscription.
What the system brings
The package combines several common server roles:
- Active Directory: Maintain staff identities, computer records and permissions in one directory.
- File and print services: Share folders across the organisation and oversee network printing.
- IIS: Run websites and application workloads through Internet Information Services.
- Hyper-V: Set up and administer virtual machines on the server.
- Built-in protection: Use safeguards belonging to the Windows Server generation purchased.
Compare the four generations
Windows Server 2025 is Microsoft's latest generation and the preferred starting point for a newly commissioned server. Security updates are scheduled through 2034. Windows Server 2022 suits sites already running that generation. Mainstream support finished on 13 October 2026, but security updates remain available through 14 October 2031. Windows Server 2019 receives security updates only, through 9 January 2029, and may suit older programmes that rely on compatibility. Windows Server 2016 reaches its support end on 12 January 2027. After that day, security updates stop, so it is intended for legacy installations already in place, not fresh deployments.
Core counts and user access
Microsoft bases this model on the server's physical processor cores. All physical cores must be licensed, with at least 8 core licences per processor and 16 per server. Once every physical core has coverage, Standard allows two virtual machines plus the Hyper-V host. For many more virtual machines, look at the Datacenter edition.
Anyone or any device connecting to the server also requires a Client Access Licence (CAL). CALs are not part of this product and must be obtained separately. Send TresBizz an email with the server's physical core count and an estimate of people or devices requiring access; we can advise on core coverage and CALs.
Buying through TresBizz

Minimum system requirements
Microsoft's baseline is a 64-bit processor running at 1.4 GHz or faster, 512 MB RAM, or 2 GB for a Desktop Experience installation, at least 32 GB disk space and a network adapter. Extra memory is needed for virtual machines. Actual workloads may call for stronger components.

Windows Server Standard: Irish buyer questions
Where can I buy Windows Server Standard in Ireland?
TresBizz sells new perpetual Windows Server Standard licences to Irish purchasers. The available generations are 2016, 2019, 2022 and 2025. Prices are shown in EUR. Your licence key, download link and installation documentation arrive by email within 24 hours. An official VAT invoice accompanies the transaction.
How many Hyper-V guests does Standard allow?
The Standard edition allows two virtual machines alongside the Hyper-V host, provided every physical processor core in the server has been licensed. Organisations planning substantially more virtual machines should investigate the Datacenter edition.
Are Windows Server CALs part of the purchase?
No. Client Access Licences must be acquired separately for people or devices connecting to the server. Email TresBizz with your physical core count and anticipated access requirements to ask about the correct quantities.
Is Windows Server 2025 suitable for a new server in Ireland?
Yes. Windows Server 2025 is Microsoft's newest generation and the preferred option for newly commissioned servers. Security updates are scheduled through 2034. For installations already running Windows Server 2022, that generation remains an option, with security updates continuing through 14 October 2031.
What happens if a Windows Server key cannot be activated?
Contact TresBizz by email if activation is unsuccessful. If the supplied key cannot be activated, a replacement or refund will be arranged. All fulfilment is electronic, so no physical shipment is involved.
